How can we get street lights? I was told the community would have to pay for street lights, we do live in Antioch however we pay Davidson County taxes. We have children in our community walking to and from the bus stops and it's really dark and dangerous. I have emailed my city council person and today I left a message because I haven't heard back from him in over 60 days with some type of explanation or next steps. Who can we get to have someone take a look at this lighting issue?

Mrs Parker, I did answer your e-mail on June 11th. I suspect that it was stopped by your employer's spam filter. I am sorry about that. The brief answer to your question is that when the Metro government was formed in 1963, the government was split into two service districts—the "urban services district" and the "general services district." The urban services district encompasses the 1963 boundaries of the former City of Nashville, and the general services district includes the remainder of Davidson County. We are in the GSD, we pay less taxes and get less services (no street lighting or trash pick up for example)
Thanks

Unfortunately that is not possible or I would have done that already in many places around the District. I have asked NES to do that in many occasions and the answer is always the same. There is, however, a way for a community the get a light but it requires for a group or individual to pay for it. I understand your frustration, I would like to see lights in Nolensville Rd for example, the road becomes dangerous for people walking on the shoulder at night.
Thanks
PS: I don't know if you are getting District 31 e-newsletter, if you are interested you may sign up by using this link http://eepurl.com/fxOF6.
