Agreed. I live in a building even further from the event and I can hear the music as if it's right outside my window (I live on the 37th floor). I've been waiting for the festival to end at 10pm so the music will finally stop, but the festival starts again tomorrow at noon and lasts until 10pm tomorrow night! In the past the Puerto Rican festival has been a parade lasting a few hours whereas this year it is a two-day festival held on one of the busiest streets in downtown Jersey City surrounded by residential buildings. Many residents here are working professionals and just want to enjoy their two days off during the weekend before going back to work. This year's festival is extremely disruptive and the noise level and the length of the festival are very disrespectful to local residents.

Festivals should take place at Liberty State Park away from residential areas. That was awfully loud and I'm on Second street. It sounded just like a boom box under my window.

Totally agree. Is there a way to formally file a complain? We definitely should stand up against such violation of law.

That is a careless blanket response because as you can see from VYinJC's comments above, the non-emergency number was contacted and NOTHING WAS DONE. New solution is needed because what you suggested FAILED.

Guys I have just read the Jersey City Code of Ordinances, if I understand correctly the noise level should be 55 decibels since I measured indoor with all windows closed.

My question is the same as GreatDay - is there a noise level limit for events that has a permit?

Also on the code there is a section for "Enforcement officers / Noise control officers", my question is, does this department / position actually exist?
