Description

For years until March of 2019 a man's name beginning with the letter "L" has had a very large encampment directly behind Hannaford on N. Ave just on the other side of the wire fence on the city park side. It took forever till finally the Police and Burlington Parks said enough. It took three 'Caterpillar' front end loader bucket loads to rid of "L's" junk which he left abandoned two months prior. The police posted these notices (pictured) during the clean-up and that was that. We figured "L" had moved on finally. Nope! In the last two months he has re-built another encampment and it's growing. In fact now there might be more than one person there.
When and what is it going to take to keep him and others from living and trashing that corner or in the entire park/trails in general? The group that hangs there leave beer cans and trash all over the woods. Isn't the city tired of spending the day cleaning up after this guy? Enough already with going through the months of court B.S. because of "his property." I knew from the start when it was cleaned up in March that someday he'd be back, and sure enough. The city advocates and the police have for ever tried to get him help and can't get a clue that he doesn't and will not accept any help but only from the bottle or can. I walk my dog every morning and have to detour around that corner to get to the stores. I try sometimes not to care but they've painted and ruined trees, painted the cities wooden bench and he's building another huge branch pile. Great for a bonfire. I have enclosed pictures to give an idea of what he's rebuilding. I would have gone in closer but people were hanging out in there with him. Pictures are from the Hannaford side of the city fence.
