Description
There are numerous, wide and deep potholes on upper Treadwell. These are filled many times a year (perhaps a dozen or more!), but filling does no good as soon as water collects in them and freezes. The result is giant puddles full of broken asphalt which are flung into the air with each passing car. There are at least three of these puddles, each measuring approximately ten feet long and five feet wide. They are so large that they obscure the roadway and one of them is situated in front of my driveway (86 Treadwell). When it rains a lot, the water collects there, nearly to the point of preventing me from entering. Each summer, nearby repaving efforts (Steep Hill and Davis Hill) fail to address the potholes of Treadwell Lane which are the worst I've seen in Weston. TNT is launching a new reality show titled "The Potholes of Treadwell Lane" ... it is time to get this road repaired once and for all. Please, no more cheap fixes that don't work!

Things are getting worse on Treadwell Lane ... it has become a one lane road with familiar Treadwell drivers stopping to let oncoming drivers pass by before entering the most treacherous sections of Treadwell. Driving in the middle of the road is the best way to survive Treadwell Lane, but "center lane" driving has also become a video game experience, with a series of new potholes, roughly the size and depth of uncovered manholes, appearing in the middle of the road. Naturally, a few days ago, the town commissioned more quick-fix fillings for our newest potholes. These will last until the next rain followed by freeze when they will pummel us all with broken fill.
Town of Weston, PLEASE HELP before we are swallowed up by these potholes!

Hello again, loyal readers. My husband took a call today from selectwoman Weinstein, who expressed her concern about the drama unfolding here on Treadwell. I didn't get to speak to her myself as I was picking up children from preschool, so I cannot relate for you her tone. My husband said she was nice but perhaps frustrated with my silly rants when the town is really doing all it can to maintain the drivability of the road until the weather improves enough for a lasting repair (let us hope that means REPAVING!). I am sure that you are happy to hear the town is aware of our situation here in the outer reaches of Weston and is plotting the total demise of those potholes!
I leave you with a humble apology for my tongue-in-cheek humor ... I truly meant no harm. While it has been mildly frustrating to watch the road become worse over the years, no real harm has been done by its poor condition. Sure, there have been a few exciting moments entering my driveway after unusually heavy rain ("will I make it?"), but even those have only been a mild annoyance to me. There are things in life worth getting really upset about and potholes aren't anywhere on that list.
In any case, I am very pleased we can expect lasting improvements in the near future. Thank you very much, Gayle, from all of us who use Treadwell Lane to get around town!
