Description
Please place a "Dead End" or "No Outlet" or "End of Road" sign on telephone pole #1391293 on Sunnyside Ave N. All of the houses north of this pole have small children that play in their driveways. An average of 7 cars per day (in a 7 day week) drive to the end of this dead end road and turn around in these driveways, not realizing this street is a dead end, often times damaging yards and landscaping, and making a dangerous environment for the families that live in these homes, especially if the kids are playing in their yards/driveways at the time. I live at 18324 and have personally started blocking the driveway with my daugher's stroller, bikes, etc, anything to stop people from turning around in our driveway. Please help keep my daugther and my neighbor's children safe. Thank you.

Thank you for contacting the City of Shoreline. We have assigned service request number 53104 for our Traffic Engineer to respond. There is a dead end sign posted on the corner of 180th and Sunnyside. Our engineer will go by and verify that the sign is still posted.

Our traffic engineer will make sure that the Dead End signs is posted in the public right of way. We cannot post signs to utility poles.

There are two signs already in place. One is a diamond shaped Dead End sign on the east side of Sunnyside Way N just north of N 180th St, facing South. The other is a double-faced rectangular Dead End sign mounted on top of the street name sign with an arrow pointing north (facing east and west).
I checked them on 8/19/2013. They were both in place on that date.
As for installing signs on utility poles, we cannot install any signs wider than 18” on wood poles. In this situation, the appropriate place for Dead End or No Outlet signs is at the intersection, where signs are currently located.
