Description
Metro Bus Stop Trash Not Being Picked up-This is an ongoing problem on Richmond Avenue, S Dairy Ashford, Westpark, S. Gessner. Whoever is supposed to be picking up trash and cleaning up the bus stops is not doing there job. I just picked up a whole bag of garbage at the bus stop adjacent to my neighborhood at 12400 Richmond Avenue as well, just west of Shadowbriar. I would say that we need a trash can there, but if they are not emptying them it does no good.

The folks downtown don't see this. It is getting worse and worse every week! I pick up litter, put it on top of a full metro Trash can so it can roll-off. Nobody is excepting responsibility. Our children think this is normal to have trash all over. Metro needs to step to the plate on this. I'll help coordinate this. does Metro have anybody that is responsible for keeping the newly rebuilt shelter platforms clean?
Does Metro have somebody that monitors contractors for compliance? Or is this what we contracted for. Full trash cans!
I use metro 300 +- days a year. I see this %^&&* all the time.

Thank you Jeffrey B. for putting in this See click fix. I think Metro should be a category just like traffic lights, potholes and such. I don't have to wonder why Metro is not affiliated with SeeClickFix!

Hi Scott, I am with Super Neighborhood 17. After submitting this to 311 I forwarded it to contacts with the Mayors Office Department of Neigborhoods, District F and Metro. I asked for a contact name for someone responsible for the pick up of this trash at the Metro bus stops and will reach out to them to see why this is now such an issue.
I agree that this is unacceptable, it trashes up our neighborhoods and quite frankly I would not want to wait at a bus stop with multiple bags of garbage sitting next to me containing no telling what.
Are you seeing one particular area of Houston to be worse than the others or is it this way every where you go in Houston.
I did see your post last week for a bus stop on Gessner and forwarded that to a contact at Metro, but have not heard back, so I am not sure if they are on vacation for the holiday as I would expect to hear something back.
I am on it, I hope to get this resolved.

Hi Jeff. The routes that you mentioned plus routes running along Harwin, Bellair, Westheimer and Bissonette on the west side of Houston all have dreadful metro stop trash disposal issues, coupled with the beat-up free newspaper dispensers creating even more debris. I never see anybody reading the papers, they just sit on them for a few minutes and then let them blow away when the bus arrives. The routes you mentioned are routes I have the most pictures of. The big surprises are when I see a recently emptied container. I've seen Harwin @ Ranchester stay full for two weeks.
Jeff, I am a student at AIU and for the next three months I will only be working part-time, so if there is anything I can do to help Metro succeed in this challenge, please let me know!
I reside in 77083
Thank you Mr. Baker

Hi Scott, Thank you for the response and also your getting involved in the community that we live in. That is very commendable. You might consider going to the Super Neighborhood meetings and meet some great contacts to assist with things like this or you are always welcome to come to our Super Neighborhood Meetings the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM at Eagles Trace community.
I heard back first thing this morning from a contact with District F and he is reaching out to Metro to see how this is supposed to work and from there we can try to determine where the breakdown is. Let's give them a week or so and then re-assess the situation. Starting mid week next week if you notice any change for the better or worse, please let me know what you see and where. You can email me directly at SuperNeighborhood17@gmail.com and I will follow up.
I feel certain that we can fix this, I will take it as high as we need to because this reflects poorly on our city and something that we go by and look at on a daily basis.
Thanks again for your involvement, many people are so busy texting, social media, etc. that they are oblivious as to what is going on around them.
Have a Merry Christmas and talk to you soon.
Jeff
