This particular job is finishing this week on Thursday so this issue will be marked as closed. Sean - respectfully it is unclear if Marin is closed or one way or the other on Columbus. It makes it difficult to navigate for drivers along Columbus when cannot now turn Left and for drivers trying to go down Marin toward the tunnel. Cars are backed up along Columbus since they cannot turn and then cars are trying to scramble to decide if they should turn left or right. I was nearly hit by a driver coming from the open lane on Marin from the tunnel who had their turn signal on to go Left and I was turning left onto Columbus and she nearly hit me since she was really going straight.

There were do flagged or anyone present on Friday or today. There is no one to help anyone navigate or to stop cars from blocking the intersection when the light runs yellow. It makes it that much more difficult to get across JC and more likely for an accident to occur. Even if there flaggers it is completely unsafe to try to stop and talk to them not any place to park to speak with them. There were the flashing signs when the half marathon and Fourth of July occurred. It would be helpful if these were left in place to post this info and that it will be taking place until Thurs so drivers can navigate and make better decisions to detour elsewhere.

Safety is always a number one issue. We will reach out to the contractor to ensure Flaggers are properly posted and that all proper signage is posted until the close of this project. Regarding the flashing sign you are referring to, these events (half marathon/4th of July) were major with multiple roads shut down throughout the city which required detours. Flashing signage is not normally used for construction projects in Jersey City unless it is an event of some type like the ones you mentioned. However this is something we can discuss with contractors in the future moving forward so I thank you for your input.

Thank you Sean. I know each project is different. With Marin being a major thoroughfare it makes it difficult for JC folks and especially for others who are out of town and going near the trains to navigate the roads. It would be very helpful if such work could be posted even if is it not the flashing signs until a project is completed.
