Description

Red Light takes too long with a scheduled Light Rail meet at Palm Center. A third phase is needed to allow EB Griggs to enter without the Left Turn while the gates are down, or in this case, It needs to be the first phase when the gates go up. The lights also need to be rephased so the WB thru and left go green, then the EB thru will go after the WB left clears, and then the EB left will get its phase. Also consider some flashing yellow arrows at this intersection to allow for clearout lefts.

also asked...
Q. What is your area of concern?
A. Timing - Traffic Signals.
Q. Why is this a concern?
A. The train meet drops the gates with a short up time between the two trains, and Griggs EB never has a chance for a green phase. This in turn delays the 5 leaving Wheeler, and in rush hour, it causes backups for that at that phase. That is bacause of over 5 minuters estimated between greens.
Q. Problem occurs at what time of day?
A. After 7pm
Q. What direction were you traveling?
A. East
