No stop sign on Griffin. Cars coming off of rt 18 keep going into s. 2nd without slowing down. I witnessed a near miss today that could have been a horrible accident.

Spoke to a helpful person at the Traffic Division. In order for a stop sign to be installed, their must be 3 accidents within a 1-year period, and an official petition must be filed (Lindsey should have noted this need for a petition when she replied to the original complaint).
Also, in order to install a stop sign, there must be 3 accidents within a 1-year period. We now have Aug 3, 2020 and May 14, 2020. Does anyone have a record or any other accidents going back until Aug 4, 2019? Laurie at the Traffic Division is also doing research on this to see if she can bring the issue in front of the Traffic Commission at their monthly meeting.
Of course, I believe that it is clear that this is a seriously faulty intersection, and can not wait even another single day. Someone is going to be seriously injured or worse. This was a major major oversight by whoever redesigned the traffic systems when they opened this street up to Route 18.
At the moment, local traffic flows through at 30mph on Second Street. This is a recipe for disaster at this currently unregulated intersection where traffic, by law, must pass through at no more than 15 mph.

This needs fixing and the city is already aware of it and it keeps happening due to lack of sign and there shouldn't be a PETITION required to fix what is already known. There wasn't any accidents here until the stop sign was removed from griffin court westbound coming off of 18. The city has CAUSED this by failing to replace the stop sign that was there before the construction for the school access road was started.
