Description
Requesting NEW permanent traffic sign at intersection of 49th and W Minnehaha Pkwy indicating this side the Parkway is also two way traffic. Vehicles often approach this intersection to turn north and subsequently turn around because they think it is a one way (because of the limited space due to the bike lane). In the process of turning around they put bikers and pedestrians at risk of getting hit. It is a very busy intersection for bikers, runners, and walkers and there are at least 10 cars a day that turn around at this intersection thinking it is a one way. Many pedestrians have almost been hit by cars in the process of turning around.

Thank you for contacting the City of Minneapolis with your request. If this is an ongoing concern, please contact 311.
Minneapolis Public Works wants your input on a proposed process to address traffic safety concerns and traffic calming requests on neighborhood streets. The process provides a way for community members to request traffic calming and for Public Works to review those requests fairly and transparently, with a focus on equity and sustainability.
Find more information about the proposed traffic calming process and share feedback at www.minneapolismn.gov . Comments on the draft will be accepted through Jan. 31.
After reviewing feedback, Public Works will finalize the process early in 2022 and share details in the spring about how to request traffic calming measures.
