Description

On March 12th, a water main exploded in front of our house at 4 University Road in Burlington. The crew that responded and worked all night to fix the problem was amazing, and they had water restored to our house by early afternoon the following day. They were professional, efficient, and helpful and took the time to explain to our two girls (age 5 and 2) what they were up to and let them safely look into the gigantic hole.
Unfortunately, after they left, I do not feel that the crew that filled in the hole did a very conscientious job. They paved over a portion of our lawn, left broken asphalt strewn about, didn’t level the patch, and the end result is rather messy and unsightly. I’ve included some photos below.
I also recently learned that the permit for this work was never actually closed and I’m hoping this means that DPW is still planning on finishing the job. I certainly appreciate that this might be related to staffing reductions around COVID-19, but wanted to reach out. We are in the process of listing our house and I hope that at the very least, we can work on getting the permit closed.
Please let me know if there is anything I can to do facilitate.

Best,
Adrian Del Maestro
