City staff have been evaluating and working on this section of street for several years now. The bump outs in front of the school were installed to make the crossing safer for children and adults. City contractors will be out over the next several weeks repairing the asphalt, installing new signs, and painting the street. There will also be landscaping and trees planted, all of which will help make the street look narrower and help to mitigate speed. City staff will evaluate the effectiveness of the work completed and continue to make changes as needed.

Thank you. I'm looking forward to seeing the updates. One big problem is that people speed over the hill, and people cross outside of the area where the bump outs are. It would be great to consider a speed bump at the top of the hill that forces cars driving down Nicholson toward Maryhurst to slow down before they get to the crossing. A speed bump at the top of the hill would also force cars going down Nicholson toward Ager Rd to remain at a slow speed going up the hill by the school; right now they push the gas and speed over the hill, causing danger for any kids and families who cross near the top of the hill instead of down by the school.

City staff will be sure to take a look at that portion of the street as well.
