That would be Mentor Lumber & Supply, not 84 Lumber. Anyway, the whole situation sounds dangerous. I've never been to the sledding area. Why would the city even have one there? It doesn't sound as if there is enough room.

Seems to me that the no-sledding sign would be an indication not to sled there.

1st thing is, the lumber yard is mentor lumber not 84 lumber, 2ndly you were trespassing on private property

Am I the only one who thinks this is a joke? Surely this line is a dead giveaway: "hit his head on the sign that says no sledding" . . .

...maybe that sign is facing the other way, and is intended for people not to go down that way on the hill, but the way I always see them sledding...facing towards the ballfields and dumpsters.

Wow we have a bunch of smart Butts on here..... obviously anyone that has commented so far hasnt actually been to the sledding hill . Please re-read the first sentence . There used to be a snow fence to protect sledders from slipping down the other side of the hill . The fence has deteirorated over the last 2 years . M son was ready to go down the right side of the hill when his sled started slipping backwards & went down the opposite way & hitting his head on the pole with the sign on it that says "NO SLEDDING " which is pointed in the right direction . If the fence was replaced & up this wouldnt have happened & i am sure there were other incidents . Case in point if Mentor is going to condone sledding there they need to replace the fence before somebody gets seriously hurt & the city would be liable since they advertise sledding there .

The city really doesn't seem to care about maintaining the sledding hill. Just like the sorry excuse for a dog park on Hopkins Rd.

The fence has been reinstalled.
