Description

When was the last time it snowed.....hmmm? Long enough since it last did that the city of West Haven should have gotten a little bit caught up with snow removal right?? I admit that this past January was rough with the number of storms and amount of snow. This is no excuse for the lack of improved plowing/removal of snow mounds that are gumming up our streets and taking away needed street side parking. I live in one of the row houses on Third Ave between Elm St. and Wood St. Street side parking is a must for this section of Third Ave as us row house residents do not have driveways/private parking and many of our neighbors across the street are multi-family residentes that also require street side parking. With the park banns put in effect for each snow storm we are all required to park on the odd numbered side of the street to allow for plowing to clear our street, and eventually clear away snow from the even number side of the street……this didn’t happen. The plows barely cleared the driving area of the street, and as the photos show the even numbered side of our street has been unable to be parked on since the last snowstorm. One may argue that everyone needs to adhere to the parking ban to allow the plows to do their job. Again as the pictures show, we ALL did observe the banns and the plows should have been able to clear up our street by now. One may also suggest getting off my lazy butt, and removing the snow myself. I would, but based on the fact that I cleared my own and several neighors' sidewalks, dug my own two cars as well as several neighbors out from the odd numbered side of the road, and cleared several sections of the roadway to prevent cars from getting stuck. I think I’ve done enough snow removal myself (all with a regular snow shovel mind you). I really hope that someone sees this, and realizes it would only take up to three good passes of a city plow to resolve this issue. Unfortunately I’ve resolved to the hope that it stays warm out, and the snow will melt away by April. Until then me and my neighbors will be fighting over the limited number of parking spaces, and walking from one end of the street to the other to get home after a long hard day of work (I help folks for living as an EMT maybe someone can help me).
