I want to take a moment to thank you for your kind words regarding the resurfacing project on Johnson. (We are currently working on resurfacing sections of Taft as well.) The City is aware that Johnson Street is in dire need of resurfacing east of 30th Road. However, at this time the City is postponing the resurfacing of Johnson Street to the east, because we are looking into obtaining additional funding which will allow the City to complete a safety upgrade to the corridor between 30th Road and Dixie Highway. In addition to the resurfacing of the roadway this funding would allow us to install sidewalks and transit facilities (bus benches/shelters) as well.

This is a major safety project, as the existing right of way through this section of the Johnson Street corridor has previously limited the possibility of safety upgrades. Lane revisions are now being considered to allow for the placement of sidewalk and transit facilities, which will make the corridor safer for the pedestrian and transit users.

Thank you for that information!! Glad to see that the city is working on getting the funding to fix this section as it has been in need of repair as long as I can remember. Is there any target date?

We do not have a target date as of yet, as we are just starting to discuss the improvement possibilities at this time.
