Agree. Very dangerous intersection. Cars don't stop or can't see the pedestrians who are trying to cross. It's an accident waiting to happen.

The pedestrian crossing at 103rd and College Way is not well-planned. North-bound drivers are coming down a hill and around a curve at the same time as they enter the crosswalk - the driver tendency is to cruise. I must remind myself to be extra vigilant as a driver - and I imagine that pedestrians must remind themselves to be fearful.

It's ironic that this situation persists, given that there is a hospital just to the north and a POLICE STATION just to the south!

I drive past this area twice a day and I admit that I don't always see the pedestrians waiting until it is too late to stop for them. I agree with DS's comments. Cross walk with lights for flags would be helpful.

This is a dangerous spot with quite a bit of foot traffic due to its proximity to the college and the bus stop nearby (on the east side of the street). The yield to pedestrians sign is regularly ignored by drivers. When the bus is stopped, it obscures the view of pedestrians waiting or crossing from drivers going north. I would like to see it marked similarly to the crosswalk at the main entrance to NSCC on College Way N.

It's not just pedestrians that take their life in their hands. People who ride bicycles to NSCC are also in peril.

The cheapest solution is to add a flashing light that can be pedestrian operated. The most expensive is to install a full traffic light. The ped crossing could have been placed North of the intersection, but that creates a problem of people driving S fast and coming over a blind hill having to slam on their brakes. However, without the ped crossing here, it makes it impossible for any cyclist exiting NSCC to take their place in the road as just another vehicle, which is how experienced commuting cyclists ride.

With several near misses now that daylight savings time is over, it's cold, rainy and dark, I dismount, walk through the ped crossing, remount and then continue riding W on a side street lined with parked cars on both sides, that's too narrow for both a car and a cycle to pass safely at the same time. It's a total pain the the rear. It doesn't matter that I light myself up to look like a rolling Xmas tree when commuting by bike in winter. This is a dangerous intersection, almost as bad as Aurora.

I've lived and worked on Meridian Ave. N./College Way for the last 8 years and have always had problems with speedy drivers, drivers that run red lights or who are too impatient to wait for a pedestrian to cross the street. As a driver I know to watch carefully for people crossing because of the hills and curves it's almost impossible to see them until they're right in front of you. I’ve walked to and from home and work and noticed a problem and I avoid crossing at certain intersections because the view is so obstructed. I think another flashing light would be great! It is a college campus after all!

After much work, we finally got a crosswalk with overhead signage put at the main entrance to NSCC on College Way and 95th and that has improved safety tremendously. The crosswalk that exists on College Way and 103rd is also quite dangerous with the hill and curve to the south of it. I agree that bolder signage and some sort of pedestrian activated warning system (carrying flags, pedestrian operated stop light or flashing lights, etc.) would help drivers to see the pedestrians -- especially during non-daylight hours.

Still sucks

I cross this intersection twice a day and most times, I have to wait for several cars to pass before I can safely cross. I feel that part of the problem is the fact that this street is very wide and cars drive in the far left side of the lane because the rest of the street is bike lane and off street parking. Drivers may not see me waiting until they are passing me.
But, I also think cars drive too fast on this stretch of College Way. Flags would help, as would a stop light.
And lastly to those crossing the street...please don't look down at your phone when crossing the intersection. Be careful and cross with intent!

It's still a problem. People speed and ignore the pedestrians. And it's by a police station.
