Is there a by-law that is in effect to have backflow valves installed into sewer lines leading to city sewers? Could you tell me if when that by-law went into effect, and if it applied to my residence and that of my neighbours.
My insurance company wants to know when the by-law went into effect, given my building was constructed in 1959.

If your engineering department knows the "estimated" lifespan of a backflow valve, it would be appreciated to let me know. I realize that the lifespan years is not binding information from the city

When a backflow valve was added as a bylaw to the CSL building code, there must be a date when the councillors approved the bylaw.
Shame. Look at my initial request date, and still not answer.

The city does not know when bills were passed, or the bill number that specified "New construction must include sewer backflow valves".
Is there not a (electronic) filing cabinet that indicates the year a bill was introduced and passed.
The administration is woefully lacking. Don't understand how the city survives if it can't find the date the bill about backflow valves was made part of the CSL building code..

Noone in the CSL administration reads them, or is responsible to insure that the questions get forwarded to the appropriate person.
