It's definitely gotten a lot worse since the signal change. I've noticed that as a pedestrian crossing to UMASS,and before I rarely had a problem and could easily count on being able to safely cross when the left turners had a green light. And as a driver, I think having 3 left lanes is also a bit much and there's almost always a long line of cars in the straight only lane (causing many other drivers to simply go straight in the left lanes). I think they need to be as explicit as possible and include a sign that says no turn on red. and a
more noticeable police presence would definitely help because it's really frustrating to be a 'good driver' and patiently wait while others zip right by in left lanes.
This definitely needs to be more clear. I was abiding by the red light and not going right/straight on red (going south). The cars behind me were LIVID and incessantly honking until finally I went. I wasn't going because this lane is new and I assumed since now there is definitely a red light and not a yield sign like I think was there before. Thanks for reporting this.
