Sorry, my post was posted before I could finish! I did some research and these flies breed due to long grass clippings in the yard, similar to hay. With the amount of rainfall we have had and long grass clippings- this helps them breed rapidly. Bug spray doesn't seem to work on these flies either. Wish there was something we could do, my family is getting bit as well. These bites are painful too.

Yes they are literally bites and not a sting at all but I heard they normally organize at least a mosquito spread in the neighborhood but yet to see anything , I guess we’ll wait for whichever comes quicker west Nile or winter!!!
