The sign is a hazard and needs to be removed. None of the thru traffic stops at any of the other signs along Till Street and it's been that way for years. I don't know why the town thought one more stop sign would do the trick and slow down traffic. This new sign is an accident waiting to happen. People turn off George Washington onto Till Street and accelerate down the small hill. If someone was turning left from Till onto Robbin Road it would be a pretty significant auto collision.

All the stop signs along Till street have a purpose, including this new one. The speed limit is 25 mph. No one obeys this. Everyone uses this as a cut through and stops at any of the stop sign only if they feel like it.
The people speeding through are the hazard to the neighborhood.

That's my point exactly. If thru traffic actually obeyed the speed limit and stopped at each stop sign, the entire neighborhood would be much safer. However, in the last 12 years that I've lived here, not only do people speed and not stop at the signs, but it's been getting steadily worse over time. Many complaints from many residents have been made over the years. Yet it still increases. So my point is, what is one more stop sign going to do? Other than make people turning onto Robbin from Till think it's safe to turn if they reached their sign first. They're going to proceed with the turn, and get hit by a vehicle speeding down the hill and through the new sign.

Thank you, as the original poster the issue is not the height of the signs.
Any driver that is paying attention can see the sign regardless of the height.
The issue is no one is stopping at the stop sign. Just like all the other stop signs along Till Street.
My concern is the safety of anyone walking in the neighborhood.

This stop sign was installed through the town engineering department. Officers have been notified of the reported violations, so that they may check the area for violators.

How is this just brushed off? This is a serious issue the law is being broke. Police have been notified. Vehicles are not stopping at stop signs. What is going on. Do we as citizens have to get help from someone else other then our town Police? Maybe the local news would like to do a story why stop signs in Enfield are not important. Come on EPD.
