I am and have been very concerned about the section of Riverside Avenue from Manhattan Drive to the Community Health Center. It is nearly unpassable due to many potholes (a few have been fixed sporadically) and the sides of the street being eroded due to water run-off. This has been years... I finally spoke with the head of the street department and he told me that the condition of roads is determined by the city engineers with regard to anything above and beyond repairing things such as potholes. This street gets major traffic all day long and as winter approaches or anytime there is water, the roadsides are inundated. With the amount of water that is collected, a driver cannot see the erosion and ends up deep in standing water where asphalt is missing. I have checked the street plan and see nothing about Riverside being on the upcoming paving schedule 🙁 I have reported this section frequently to the street dept. not realizing that they have no control! Additionally the intersection at Riverside and Intervale is broken up constantly, I am sure for the same reason. Patches DO NOT work for more than a few days and I certainly believe that this area deserves a complete repaving.
