Description

Mike Wilson, Owner of Wilson's Carpet and also Chemrik, Inc. has voiced concerns with the upcoming construction to begin in Spring of 2021 on the Piers for the Pulaski Skyway. The property in which will have an issue once construction begins is 94 Mead Ave. Block 9103 Lot 3.
NJDOT is taking certain parcels of Chemrik property at 200-220 Broadway which are part of an eminent domain case.
However, 94 Mead Ave is a 2 story garage with 3 garage doors for separate tenants and these garage doors are the only access for vehicles. These tenants will definitely be affected should they utilize Mead Ave as their staging and work area. This project will continue as they project for 2 years, but as we all know it always extends longer than that. I don't believe they should be able to take over the street as it is used daily by businesses that rent from Chemrik, Inc. the Landlord. I pay property taxes on the property and should be able to utilize it. The State doesn't need to take that portion of the street for staging purposes; they have other areas surrounding our property that perhaps they should use. They will already take a significant portion of our adjacent property at 200-220 Broadway and this added staging area will be detrimental to our business.
NJDOT claims that neither 94 Mead Ave. or 174-182 Broadway will be affected by the construction. This is not the case as you can see on their exhibit attached below.
The hashed out area on Mead Ave. will be blocking 4 of the garage doors mentioned above along with one man door.
Our business and our tenants have been affected greatly by Covid 19 and we are trying to survive, any help you can give us regarding this upcoming construction will be greatly appreciated.
