Huntsville Utilities has received your service request on 1/2/2021 and it will be reviewed by a crew for replacement. This fire hydrant is called a "breakaway hydrant". The break away flanges allow the hydrant head assembly to break away from the lower hydrant barrel. If hit by a car, the break away flange and stem coupling shear and separate from the rest of the hydrant assembly. The hydrant has been functional and will be replaced ASAP.
