Description

This home at 1430 South Blvd should be considered vacant. No one lives in this home, no one sleeps in the home. A man arrives to the home, enters the home, and stays in the home for 10-15 minutes at a time, no more than once a week. The backyard is not maintained in any capacity. The grass has not been cut in years, foliage is overgrown, and animals, including skunks, have made their home in this backyard. There are racoons living inside the home and frequently play as a family on the roof. The racoons enter and exit the home through a broken attic window. The racoons access the roof and the window by climbing up trees that are touching the home. During summer and spring, weeds grow in the gutters of the home. In the back of the home, the gutters and downspouts are broken and water pools near the foundation of the home when it rains. The concern is the low maintenance of the home which encourages animals to make their home on the property and inside the home. In addition, these animals could potentially chew through wires inside the home, causing a fire, which could potentially be a danger to the neighborhood. This message is written to ask the city to check on the home to ensure the home is up to code and that the animal issue is handled appropriately. The City House Code indicates that vacant properties should be inspected at least 3x per month until they become occupied.
