It is impossible to get consistently reliable cell service coverage in this part of Prospect. I have Verizon and generally get no more than 2 bars, and oftentimes only 1. My neighbors have had similar problems with AT&T. It seems a general issue in the area. Some years back I called Verizon and was told it was a Princeton municipal issue; fights over the location of cell towers. What explains what is happening and how can the situation be improved? Work from home is difficult with inconsistent and unreliable cell service.

Verizon has created the following website for their customers to report coverage issues:

We have invited all of the cellular companies (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, etc.) to attend a special Council meeting on May 22 to discuss their existing and proposed cellular infrastructure in Princeton and to hear from residents regarding their issues. It is unfortunate that Verizon misinformed you that the issue is with Princeton; that is not the case. We have been advocating for our residents for many years to get improved cellular service.

Subsequent to the meeting with Council, the cell providers have been working on providing enhanced 4G cell infrastructure. Verizon has worked with Crown Castle to co-locate antennas on Crown Castle poles as well as new installations of their own. 8 new small cell antennas were approved by Council in September. Applications for 11 new antennas were recently submitted and are under review by Engineering and Planning.
Small cell antennas on Princeton-Kingston Road and on South Harrison Street are proposed and are under review by NJDOT and Mercer County, the agencies with right-of-way jurisdiction.
