Sharraxaadda

I was very nearly hit while crossing Doubleday Ave. with the white crossing signal flashing that it was safe to cross. Traffic turning left from front street paid no attention to a pedestrian in the crosswalk because they also had a green light at the same time as the safe to cross light flashed. Why isn't there a delay for turning traffic. What is the point of buttons to push to aide in crossing the street if they do nothing.
