Please confirm what you mean by 'City of Surrey, BC addressed this issue'. Will something actually happen this time? I have called Concord Security, they say they will come, but they never do. CANNOT GET OUT GARAGE and fire truck would never make it down our lane in the middle of the night. Why are illegally parked cars in lanes not ticketed? I think it's time to buy my own tow truck. I have reopened this issue until something is actually done about it.

If the vehicle is on your property just call the towing contractor yourself.

Still no trace of a parking ticket. Called Concord again last night. They again promised to be right over (and never showed). The lane was again filled with cars all night. Hey everyone, free illegal parking in the back lane, come on over, we could probably pack a couple more in there.

Still no sign of parking enforcement. Calling multiple times a day until something is done. Have Concord on speed dial. Have spoken to car owners in this lane and they basically say screw off. Selfish owners and illegal renters.

If you expect enforcement, give them the vehicle licence plate, vehicle colour, make & model and location.. Then they might do something.

Thank you MB! Actually just received a letter in the mail from City Engineering Dept to say that No Parking signs will be installed in our lane. We are rejoicing and will have a case of beer ready for the installers when they arrive. For after work, of course. :)

thats great. ever since i told the city that their design plan for clayton was a complete failure, city staff are taking us seriously. i will be making sure they listen.

MB, thanks for taking up the cause! Any willingness from the City to start charging owners with illegal suites? It's a big part of the problem. Legal suites are an important part of the area design, but when there is a Coach House and a basement suite on the same property, we all suffer while the owner pockets the cash.

problem is how are they going to keep one suite operable versus two for those who have coach homes? any thoughts? we cant expect city to keep on attending the same houses.

I think a major fine for even a first offence would be a good deterrent (at least $5000...which is a fraction of what they are illegally generating in rent per year). Add the fine to property tax bill. An easy to use reporting site for neighbours to use would also help. It is so obvious who has an illegal suite. On our street, there are 10 houses, at least 6 have a coach house AND a basement suite. The street/area was not built to handle that number of households. If owners can't afford their house legally, they can't afford their house! Everyone seems to have justified it in their own minds, possibly because it is so common and there is no enforcement.
