Building Owner never shoveled the sidewalk along 8th St. Now a sheet of Ice that is very treacherous. I walk but daily, and have seen several slip, and many hanging on to fence for dear life.
I have called city hall about a property where the owner does not shovel the snow. Here is what i was told: The city has 3 full time sanitation inspectors. They are mainly focused on failure to fold cardboard properly but they all have the authorization to write tickets for not shoveling snow. I was told that inspector Gerrard is the guy who is primarily responsible for writing tickets for failure to shovel snow. I have left him numerous messages and he has never returned my call. The property I have called about has not been shoveled so I am assuming that he has done nothing.
I grew up in philly. In philly the city loves it when people call about not shoveling snow as they can write tickets and make money without raising taxes. In philly if you fail to shovel your snow or cut your grass a certain number of days after getting a ticket the city will send a crew out to do it for you and then send you a big fat bill for the work. Hoboken should try the same approach.
