Description
My wife and I began complaining to Community Development regarding the debris (including old duct work, plywood, shower doors dead tree limbs, mounds of busted cement, old chairs and pots) in September, 2020 and again in December 2020 and I have spoken to them numerous times since then. My wife spoke with Randy Cunningham at Permitting in January, 2021 since the owner has had a permit for over three years. Mr. Cunningham said that the owner/contractor needed to get a dumpster to put the trash in and that he would send out the inspector to look at it and take pictures for him. Again, nothing ever happened. We called Skip, the City Inspector for this area in early March, 2021 told him about the debris and the piles of dirt, rock and broken cement. We also spoke to him about the mud run-off when it rains. He text us back and said that the owner planned to have it cleaned up in about 2 weeks. NOTHING ever happened. The owner occasionally has work done inside and on porch, but outside cleanup NEVER happens and no dumpster has ever been placed. There is no electricity on and no porta potty. It is beyond my and my neighbor's understanding how this owner/contractor does not have to follow the rules set by the City of Huntsville. We have had no help at all in any of our complaints. The owner works inside on occasion to keep his permit current and parks his works truck in front of debris to help hide it.
This hurts the values of the homes on Shades Crest Road and the neighborhood of Blossomwood. It is a shame that our City Inspectors and Community Development don't respond to the needs of the public.

If the city continues to do nothing, it may be that the only way to resolve this is by nuisance and water runoff lawsuit. Shouldn’t be a tough one given that the owner’s been trashing the property for so long. Apparently, the owners have done the same thing at another property.
One of the owners is apparently claiming that he’s gotten COVID. That’s the third time since the pandemic started—an amazing feat given that there have been few enough reported second infections. He must be aiming for the Guinness Book of Records.
City of Huntsville - please take action.
