Construction safety issues Archived193-217 S Union St Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington ElectricI am very concerned about the safety of children walking and biking to school at the intersection of South Union and Maple during ongoing construction. Crews are starting work and actively working at this intersection while kids are crossing between 7:30-8 am. The crossing guard is at times overwhelmed managing local traffic construction and kids and sight lines are obscured. Pedestrians are forced to walk in the street right now making it doubly dangerous. The kids do not realize the extent of the safety issues and fly right through on their bikes. This is an accident waiting to happen. Construction crews should suspend operations while kids are crossing before and after school.
