Parks Request ArchivedKimberly Playgrounds New Haven, CT, USA - HillThe location is Kimberly Field in back of Betsy Ross Arts Magnet School. There has been a tent set up on Kimberly Field near the basketball court for over a month. At first I thought someone was quarantining back there because of Covid. Recently I see multiple people visiting that tent, so I know it isn't quarantine related. This tent is located at the fence line adjacent to people's property

Health Dept. Archived292 Greenwich Ave New Haven, Connecticut - City PointWhen is the city going to do something about the mosquitoes. It is especially bad for properties that abutt Kimberly Field. Everyday the neighbors try to empty anything that might hold water, so please save that advice. What we need is larval control to start. Every year we go through this. This year I'm paying 11% more to get eaten alive in my yard and West Nile is here!

Health Dept. Archived292 Greenwich Ave New Haven, Connecticut - City PointWhen is the city going to put out that stuff that kills mosquito larva in the catch basins? Usually it's done when they do street sweeping, but it's very evident that it hasn't been done at all this year. You cannot go into your back yard without being eaten alive, and I'm talking about in the middle of the day with the sun beaming down, not dawn or dusk. Me and my neighbors try to keep on top of any standing water but we need the city to do its' part.

Public Space, Streets and Drains ArchivedGreenwich Ave New Haven, Connecticut - City PointFor the second week in a row, the sanitation department has left trash in the street after their pick-up. Last week they dropped some sort of food in the street which resulted in crows swarming for couple of days until they had eaten it all, this morning I look out and see refuse from the recycling truck (empty boxes of different foods) in the street. Can they please pick up the garbage that they drop in the street? We make an effort to keep our community livable and this is not helpful!

Other - city responsibility Archived175 Cedar St New Haven, Connecticut - Hill
Raw sewage backed up from the main line and discharged onto my Mother's property last week after a rainstorm. WPCA was called and said this happens sometime in this area. They came and checked the line and said everything was flowing normally. The water from her house (sinks, etc) is not flowing out to the main line correctly. Roter Rooter was called and $422 later pulled a bunch of thick tree roots out of the line. They told her that was not a permanent fix and that it would cost her $3,700 to fix the problem.
My Mom has owned that house since the early 70's and there has never been any trees on her entire block. However, Trowbridge Park is directly across the street and is full of trees. This is where the roots are coming from, city trees on city property.
My Mom is elderly and her health cannot tolerate her worrying about how she is going to pay for this. Is there any recourse from the city? Can they help mitigate a problem that is originating from their property?
If anyone has any ideas, I am open to them all. I must help her in some way!
