I am not sure what has happened over the past few weeks but Jones park has severely been neglected. The trash cans are always overflowing with garbage and dog poop bags, there is litter and garbage strewn all over the place, graffiti on the fencing and buildings regularly and I see park maintenance workers walking around on their phones usually not maintaining the park. One day last week, 3 of them were there all milling about not doing anything, walking past overfilled garbages and trash on the ground, talking until they got in their 3 separate JC city trucks and left. This park never used to be like this. Curious as to what has changed. Yesterday, I picked up trash in front of the maintenance worker and he walked past more that he looked down and saw and just stepped over. Something has to change.

The intersection of Pavonia and Brunswick by Jones Park is extremely dangerous. The traffic coming down Brunswick towards 7th more often than not blow through this stop sign. They feel that because they can see if there is any traffic coming down Pavonia they do not need to stop or sometimes even slow down at this intersection. Meanwhile, there is a lot of kid and dog traffic that crosses paths there. A speed hump I do not think will correct this and make it a safe intersection because there will be time to speed back up once over the speed hump. What is needed here are RAISED CROSSWALKS! This would 1. increase the visibility of pedestrians slightly over the surrounding parked cars (usually that are way too close to or are encroaching on the crosswalks since parking is tight) and 2. since the crosswalk would be the speed hump, cars would be forced to slow down at the crosswalk. I feel that anywhere there is a speed hump, it should be moved to where the crosswalks are because only then would pedestrians be safer.

The intersection of Brunswick and Pavonia is extremely dangerous. Countless times drivers do not stop or even slow down as they travel on Brunswick from 9th street towards 8th street. It is as though the stop sign there does not exist. I have been almost hit while walking my dog multiple times because someone did not stop. This is extremely dangerous because of the public park with a child playground and water pad as well as the dog groomer located on pavonia adds increased dog traffic in this area. I believe what is needed here is a raised crossed walk to bring the pedestrians up to eye level with the drivers as well as it creates some speed mitigation. Installing a speed hump further down the block would not stop drivers from blowing through the stop sign.
