I'm pretty sure there's an open file on this complaint regarding the abandoned KFC on Lake Park. This is totally outrageous - particularly in comparison to locally-owned independent businesses that are bending over backwards to maintain and/or improve their properties in the face of the pandemic while lacking the deep pockets of a corporation like KFC.

Large limb fell from City Street Tree. As I've mentioned previously, I'm disappointed that there isn't a category specifically dedicated to city owned street trees. And as I've also mentioned repeatedly, it's unfortunate that we lack the staff to regularly prune and properly maintain the street trees.

Someone dumped a large quantity of clothing and trash into the Splash Pad fountain. Taurus Ringold or Stennis Raymond usually come out on Fridays to service the fountain. Please confirm that they will be there and advise that they should come prepared with trash bags. If they can't make it on Friday, please make other arrangements.

A similar report was filed 12 days ago - but this has been an ongoing problem ever since the KFC closed. For all I know, the blight reported 12 days ago was abated and this is new.

A film crew is going to be shooting on this corner in front of the Grand Lake Theatre Monday and Tuesday of next week. Even though it's not a major film, do we really want our poorly maintained infrastructure featured on movie and/or TV screens around the country. What needs to be done if the admittedly limited resources can be found:
    1. Remove the illegal posters from the signal pole and repaint.
    2. Clean the sidewalks and gutters, especially the accumulated grease around the two trash bins.
    3. Remove the trash underneath the trash bins.
    4. Replace the missing street sign near the bus stop or instead, remove the anchor bracket currently marked with hazard tape.

Every single window on the vacant KFC is covered with graffiti - much of which is done with acids that are apparently impossible to remove. This building is most likely owned by the corporate offices of Kentucky Fried Chicken and they need to take responsibility for abating this blight.

A company called Phase III Communications is in the process of installing fiber optic cables all around the Grand Lake shopping district. This lengthy section of sidewalk on Lake Park was trenched and then covered with plywood that's barely adequate to support the weight of pedestrians and the plywood isn't adequately attached - so some of the corners are lifting up creating a major trip and fall hazard. In addition, the same company dug a 60' long trench in the decomposed granite across the street in Splash Pad Park and has yet to properly restore the surface.

Pile of leaves and branches is on the public right of way just to the left of the entrance to the Lakeview School parking lot.

The limb alongside the curb is totally dead and snapped off under its own weight. It's roughly 7 feet long and 4+ inches in diameter. A cursory inspection of this and adjacent trees found quite a few of the same size or larger that may also be dead and ready to fall. Although I know that the Tree Division is terribly understaffed, these could inflict major damage to cars parked at the curb or people passing by.

As an aside, why isn't there a category specifically for street trees since it's a big, distinct issue?

As part of Splash Pad Park's monthly volunteer work day, we collected 3 bags of trash from the narrow planting strip between the parking lot fence and MacArthur Blvd. What we couldn't bag is neatly raked into a pile just shy of Lakeshore Avenue - adjacent to the bags on the parking lot side of the fence.
