Traffic Calming Suggestion ArchivedHarbor Bay Parkway And Road A Alameda, California - Alameda
Please post a speed feedback sign at various places along Harbor Bay Parkway. Cars travel very fast here -- in part because of the very flat, straight and wide roadway. Along with numerous office parks along this area there is also an elementary school, pre-school, middle school and two or three churches. A speed feedback sign would be welcome. Also would be beneficial to increase police presence to enforce the posted speed limits.
Long term solutions to slow travel speeds is to rebuild Harbor Bay Parkway with 11-foot lanes, broad horizontal curves and modern roundabouts at each intersection to discourage high speeding traffic.

North Loop Road And Harbor Bay Parkway Alameda, California - Alameda
The southbound approach (North Loop Road) at Harbor Bay Parkway has poor sight distance due to the tall landscaping in the median on Harbor Bay Parkway. The landscaping needs to be trimmed to comply with Stopping Sight Distance standards explained in the Caltrans Highway Design Manual where drivers from southbound North Loop Road should be able to see an object about 3 to 4 feet tall approaching from eastbound Harbor Bay Parkway for a distance of 440 feet (assuming approach speeds of 40 mph).
Also note that this location is within 700 feet of an elementary school and church and should warrant extra attention for potential safety risks.
