Area is now covered with twice as much trash as shown in these photos which were taken last week It even smells bad now! ,

Encampment blocking bike path, tried to make it past but then was bit by territorial dog. The encampment all along this path nearing Lake Merritt has grown exponentially since the last time we passed thru.

The city of Oakland is asphalt for the death of the person in the whole Wilson, Campman, that was crushed by a fallen tree this week. There are rules on the books for a reason. The city of Oakland ignored the no camping rules that they themselves voted for rolled into law, and then completely ignored, and did not enforce. If the no camping rules have been enforced This person will still be alive. I am formally requesting that the city of Oakland enforce its laws, remove all the people camping in and around lake Merritt immediately to prevent any more needless deaths from occurring. Stop the in action, and enforce the basic rule of law.

The individual that has been occupying the back porch of the Rotary Nature Center for the past month is throwing sleeping bags, trash, and other items into Lake Merritt. Furthermore, this individual's encampment has expanded into the trail next to the nature center and is impacting park users. This is a public health hazard. This is an ongoing issue that has not been resolved and as a result, the Rotary Nature Center back porch caught fire. This is not a good look for the first Municipal Visitor Center in North America. Please help our center and this individual find the services and help they need asap!

There is a tent city growing on Lake Merritt and conditions are getting really bad here. The city has attempted to clear this encampment three times over the last two years with no action and nothing but cost to the taxpayers. There are now 7 tents set up on the Bellevue side of the lake between grand and Staten Avenue. One of the inhabitants in particular is mentally unstable, threatening, and screams racial slurs at anyone trying to enjoy the park. Neighbors have called for services and help for these people for three years with no action. We can no longer even use the park due to the amount of encampment, trash, and human feces piled under every tree. Please help the citizens and clear these seven people from ruining the park for the other 4000 visitors.

There are several unhoused residents on the back porch and surrounding area around Rotary Nature Center. Staff has observed on several occasions fires being started due to the cold.
