Notified About

  • Bungalow Ave SAN RAFAEL, CA - San Rafael
The neighborhood has been trying to get this Street repaired since 1989! The Street is very narrow making it difficult for 2 cars to pass safely. There are large open Gutters with Driveway entrances making it dangerous when 2 cars try to pass. A car can hit a driveway entrance and severely damage there front suspension. This has happened often. It has only partial sidewalks causing pedestrians to walk on the Street. We have had nothing but excuses from the City. The IJ published an article Nov 23 2003 concerning this issue.(See attached). This issue has gone on far to long.

  • 71 Trellis Dr San Rafael, CA, 94903, USA - San Rafael
Trash overflowing. And appears to be a bee or wasp nest in the very near vicinity of this trashcan. They are quite aggressive. Multiple dogs and children have been stung/bitten walking on the path to and from school. I’ve been watching it for five minutes and cannot seem to locate a nest source. Does not appear to be in the trashcan itself but I cannot exactly tell.
  • 2-98 Mccoy Rd San Rafael, CA, 94901, USA - San Rafael

I am writing to request the City take a look at a significant drainage issue on McCoy Road (above the recent landslide on Bungalow Ave).

There are multiple drainage streams carrying a significant amount of water that are ineffectively being rerouted into one stream. The water from these streams is directed along the uphill side of the McCoy Road by an unimproved drainage swale. The swale is undersized for the typical flows and may be inadequately designed for the drainage configuration; nor is the swale free of obstructions. Every year the water from these streams regularly spills over the asphalt curb and into the roadway, resulting in ponding and a significant amount of soil/rock deposited in the road.

I ask that the City improve the drainage swale to mitigate the ponding and to decrease the potential for infiltration into the subsoils directly uphill from multiple residences.

I have uploaded a diagram with photos to help describe the issue.

Thank you for your attention to this matter and I look forward to hearing from you.

  • 132 Woodland Ave San Rafael, California, 94901 - San Rafael
Last month city public Works tarred PART of the sidewalk in front of 132 Woodland Ave. following a request I made. The sidewalk is heavily used by children to and from school and mothers with strollers. It's also the siedwalk that vehicles pass over to park off-road. This photo shows one area not finished. There is a whole section that was not tarred. (more photos are available on request). They did not finish the east end of the sidewalk either. The barrier between the road and sidewalk was damaged and protrudes into the roadway. Is there a plan to finish these repairs?

    Issue I #16326680

I appreciate your quick response. I hope I did this correctly. This issue really hasn’t been resolved.
This is not really a normal storm drain. This is winter rain runoff that flows through a walkway easement. Yesterday my husband and I pulled weeds so that the drain could be seen and now water is flowing very slowly. Part of the “drain” the terra cotta pipe is visible and mud can be seen 3/4 of the way into the pipe. Where the terra cotta pipe drains is open and visible and that is the area my husband and I tried to clear yesterday.
This really hasn’t been resolved. I would be happy to meet with someone and show them.
    Thank you,
    Sylvia Pesenti
