Napagbigyang-alam Tungkol

  • 972 State St New Haven, CT 06511, USA - Bishop-Hine

JP Demspeys is attracting motorcycles to the neighborhood that make it unliveable. This needs to stop and we need the police's help. There are three bike parked out front right now and I am waiting for an officer but I have not had luck w the police's help in the past.

We need traffic stops for decibel meters on State Street.

  • Fair Haven New Haven, CT, USA - Mill River

Along the East bank of the Mill River between State Street and Humphrey Street along the Western property line of the old CT Transit site lies a great trail opportunity with little upfront cost to tax-payers.

Readying this connection for a trail will pave the way for recreational access between East Rock Park and Grand Avenue.

We have spoken with City Plan and City Engineering and it appears that this is a reasonable request and use for the river shores.

We have also spoken to State Representative Roland Lemar who supports the project and believes that with interest from resident's demonstrated we can get a trail funded here.

If you would use this area recreationally or would like to see this trail created please vote up this issue and share it with neighbors. As organizers we would like to see that there is real interest(50 or more votes might convince us :) from the community before we organize to push the issue to the State.

If you have thoughts in support or opposition please add them in the comments!

Let's make the Mill River something New Haven can be proud of again.

  • Humphrey St New Haven, CT - SOHU

We have a beautiful tree canopy on Upper State Street but unfortunately it makes the busy restaurant corridor very dark at night.

It would be really excellent to have a low level street lighting like other commercial districts in the City.

  • 103 Bishop St New Haven, CT 06511 - Bishop-Hine
I often see, or hear, the big blue and white Yale school bus flying up Bishop Street with the pedal to the medal. The bus screams by, both in speed and sound, revving its engine flying up to Orange Street as if it was heading to YNHH with someone in labor. If a child or person who'd been drinking too much happened to wander into the road, ferget it! Two points for that driver. I tried to tell a cop who was parked on Bishop when I got home tonight, but no one was in the cruiser at the time. I think NHPD oughta park themselves with a speed detector and ticket whoever's racing up and down our streets.
  • 611 Orange Street New Haven, Connecticut - Bishop-Hine

It appears the folks at Nicas are clearing a path from their parking lot behind the house on the corner of Bishop and Orange, to put in a connecting driveway onto Bishop Street. If you look closely, you can see the chalk marks on the ground where they are planning the driveway.

Is this even legal? I am very concerned about this. The owners at Nicas have historically not shown a great deal of concern about following the law - whether it be the number of outdoor seats allowed, zoning issues, parking lot issues, garbage issues etc.. Nor have they concerned themselves much about the danger their persistently illegally parked supply trucks present to the public (driving OR walking). IN short, they cannot be trusted to take public safety and public good into consideration when making changes.

I hate to think the effect such a driveway would have on the increased traffic to the neighborhood.

Zoning - please step in here. Surely these people must be breaking a half-dozen zoning codes.

  • 36 Bishop St New Haven, CT 06511, USA - Bishop-Hine

There is an owner of a black lab who has been walking his dog without a leash. Every day this dog defecates on our newly landscaped property. I have asked this gentleman to please either pick up after his dog or please walk him on a leash. I do not even care if the dog defecates on the lawn, but the owner is not picking it up; that is the problem. I do not consider this issue closed and would like a full resolution to it.

Now, this is the last time I will be posting anything and this is my last warning. Ben, I have already contacted the police, and I need to be able to give them the name and address of this dog owner. How can I get that from you? Or can I give you my contact at the police station?

  • 1055-1079 State St New Haven, CT - East Rock
The State St. Bridge, over the Mill River, is now going on two years past its completion date. The city engineering department claimed that they would start working on a plan, in December 2011, to solve the water pollution issue, which has delayed the bridge reconstruction. Any progress on that plan?
Because State St. is closed, and Trumbull St. is now only one way, heading West, Willow St. has become a traffic nightmare and a public safety issue.
On Tuesday evening, because of the city's poor planning, the usual evening traffic jam, on Willow St. caused a major public safety issue, when two New Haven police cars, heading West (on Willow), and two New Haven Fire trucks, heading East (also on Willow), were stuck for at least five minutes, while car commuters totally blocked both lanes, preventing anyone from moving. Willow St. cannot handle thousands of cars per day. The noise pollution, air pollution, speeding, traffic jams and blocking emergency vehicles needs to stop.
The city needs to get its @ss in gear and fix the State St. Bridge.
  • 615 Orange St New Haven, CT - Bishop-Hine
Nica's supply trucks are regularly blocking Bishop Street. They either park across a lane of traffic (see picture - this truck is parked!) or they park so close to the corner that it is nearly impossible to pull out onto Orange st. without endangering yourself.
  • All Of East Rock New Haven, CT - East Rock
There are too many streets in East Rock where the odd sides were NEVER PLOWED and a number of streets, especially Lawrence, is essentially a one-way road due to cars parking with the ice/snow and two cars not being able to fit through the street at the same time. Why did the city just skip East Rock?
  • Nash St. New Haven, CT - East Rock
The Park on Nash is a beautiful New Haven Greenspace. However, it is not what it was even one year ago. The park is full of trash, and the gravel and footstones are gone. The picnic tables have been completely deconstructed or destroyed, and the gazebo is run down. Perhaps we could re-fix this lot up as a neighborhood activity in order to make it the beautiful spot it once was.
  • Lawrence Street And State Street New Haven, CT - East Rock
A number of folks have noted traffic safety concerns at this location. At the same time folks have really come to enjoy the pocket park. A kind neighbor has created the following suggestion for how to improve both situations. See attached for his suggestion as well as some temporary measures to pilot the idea.
  • 141 Nicoll St New Haven, CT 06511, USA - East Rock
Bike thief stole a bike last night and got away from cops. He came back at midnight to retrieve the bike that he had left, for the one he had stolen, and had once again gotten away from the cops. He came back this morning and retrieved his bike and was spotted casing Foster St. He is Black, 5'9" wearing a brown hoodie with a black coat over it that has red stripes on the sleeves. He was seen walking a red Specialized mountain bike with a plastic bag over the seat. If you see him call NHPD and you can tell them it's related to case# 18068
