Better signage is needed at Mt Auburn/DeWolfe to inform drivers about the weekend Memorial Drive closure.

The existing sign has out of date information, since it doesn't reflect the new Saturday closures. And it's not visible to drivers on Mt Auburn. This is causing a lot of drivers to waste time getting stuck in a detour at the end of DeWolfe.

The best solution would be a large sign on the corner saying "MEMORIAL DRIVE CLOSED AHEAD, LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY", placed only during the closure hours, angled to be visible to traffic on both Mt Auburn and DeWolfe.

By the way, the hours are also wrong on the city's website. The press release from April 21, 2022 says "Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00AM to 7:00PM", but it's actually 6 AM Saturday to 7 PM Sunday (including overnight hours).

  • Erie St & Pearl St Cambridge, MA, 02139, USA - Cambridgeport
Drivers on Erie St are often confused by the raised intersection and think Pearl St has a stop sign. Please put a "CROSS TRAFFIC DOES NOT STOP" sign on Erie.
