This is an urgent problem. Someone needs to get out there and see what is going on during rush-hour traffic. Because of inadequate signage folks don't know what they are supposed to do. They are turning into the wrong lanes going head-on into traffic. It is a very dangerous and urgent situation. We need a traffic director out there. I've seen people honking and screaming at each other. Please attend to this TODAY!

Unbelievable chaos. The cones do not match the traffic pattern. If there is more than 1 car, no one knows what to do.

The work is not finished. The police have been called without success. Now it up to the city.

To add to the confusion, the neighbor on the corner has a spotlight aimed at the intersection at night.

Hopefully, this will be finished before someone is hurt.

The cones seem to move creating additional havoc. I've understood at least one neighbor to say they had gone out to intersection and reset the cones in order for traffic to flow more smoothly.

Appropriate signage would assist drivers as well - specifically noting it is a round about rather than just a yield in four directions.

Please make this a priority!

As a resident of Westlake Hills, I am also frustrated and concerned at the haphazard placement of the cones, and stopping the job mid-way. There are now yield signs (rather than the two stop signs on Bliley/Hagueman), but the cars on Blakemore are not yielding, probably because they don't realize the change. This is a bad accident waiting to happen, so it is imperative you address this immediately!

I agree with the above posts and request the telephone pole be moved back like the one further down from it and the drainage ditch pipe under the road, be extended to allow more room for the circle. As a neighborhood resident I've endured Blakemore non-neighborhood drivers turning left with no turn signal onto Bliley completely oblivious to the fact that hundreds of people live straight ahead. I was hopeful that the construction was being done my competent engineers and would make sense in the end and possibly be an actual improvement. Unless the pole is moved those of us who turn right off Bliley will be at increased risk for an accident. Also, a sign on Blakemore that says "please use turn signal' could also help, although if the circle works correctly this problem could be resolved.

I want to add that it would probably be a good idea to take down the 20 mph sign right before the curve going west on Blakemore. 20 mph is too fast and why folks are not slowing down.

Agreed with all above. Bliley to Blakemore was already a horrendously overused cut through from Forest Hill To Janke... The city should have NEVER done anything to make this route more attractive to the cut through traffic.

The people cutting through that area BARELY respected the stop sign at the corner... what made the city think they'll respect a yield sign? Previously, I rarely had a problem. Since the traffic circle, I've had three people attempt to run the yield sign, including one GRTC bus!!! It is a disaster as is, and should absolutely be switched back to a traditional intersection, perhaps with additional anti-traffic measures (i.e. speed bumps, etc) on Bliley in an attempt to cut down cut through traffic.

One big mess, on Sunday morning I came within a inch of being hit, the poor other driver couldn't figure out which way to go, no lines or signs as of 5/13, I'm just waiting to hear a crash!

So, if someone does take out the telephone pole while we're waiting for the sun to shine, I guess, so lines can be painted etc..... could the city agree to move it back to the other side of the ditch?

Two full weeks after this complaint was filed, an almost a month since the project began, and this is STILL a major problem for the area. Drivers have no idea what to do. There is no contrast between the bricks and asphalt, so many drivers cutting through the area don't even understand that it is a traffic circle. To compound problems, the cones are continually knocked over, requiring neighbors to go out and set them upright.

This is a MAJOR problem and safety issue that needs to be fixed immediately. It is only a matter of time before a major accident happens here. I've now had 3 close calls at the intersection, where I never had an issue previously. I've seen cars FLY through the intersection now that it is a yield, instead of a stop sign. Its only a matter of time before someone is involved in a major accident at this intersection, and sues the city as a result of this.

Everyone is right... this is a complete disaster. The city needs to have either a uniformed officer, or a construction crew sent to this intersection IMMEDIATELY. The new roundabout simply does. not. work. This intersection needs to be a full 4 way stop to prevent any accidents, and slow down the cut through traffic. There may be poor traffic areas around town, but this intersection now feels like I'm driving in Mumbai... No one has any idea what is going on, and drivers just point thier car wherever they feel like it at the moment.

The new lines make better sense of the traffic pattern. Drivers appear better able to follow the pattern this morning.

However, this continues to be an ugly example of a traffic circle. Wonder how this would have been implemented in the West End?

The new lines were painted yesterday and yes, they do help. The main problem with this intersection has always been from people not stopping at the stop sign at the end of Bliley Road. This new pattern now sends cars traveling NW on Blakemore into the Westlake Hills neighborhood directly into the line of traffic of those traveling to the end of Bliley Road. You then have to navigate around without hitting the telephone poll and hoping you won't get hit by those getting to the intersection from Bliley Road.

Agreeing with the comment above from "neighbor2", this is a really ugly intersection. The lines look horrible and the bricks are barely visible at dusk. We need another sign that says "Yield to traffic in circle" to help people that don't usually come in contact with roundabouts navigate.

This project can't possibly be finished.

The plans were not executed as they were described to the association. We were told that the bed would be raised 2" and have nice trim. It is ugly.

No one understands that it is a round about. I agree the signage is inadequate. It also needs reflectors for at night.

I agree with the above comments as well, I think this is the worst roundabout I have ever seen in my life. There are no signs whatsoever directing traffic it is a accident waiting to happen. Nobody knows what direction to drive, nobody slows down, nobody stops. It's just terrible. Usually every roundabout I have ever seen is like a raised concrete thing with like some grass and flowers and plants and signs and stuff . Never just bricks. This should probably be rethought and maybe redone . I know the bricks are meant to slow drivers down but they are definitely not serving their purpose.

Because you can't really see them! The bricks that is.

Drivers on Blakemore are used to driving at excessive speeds without any restriction. They are not easily accepting the concept of slowing down.
The roundabout seems to be entering their awareness today as traffic is navigating the circle more smoothly.

Again, the adult learning curve and resistance to change which are a normal part of this, do come into play.

Things are better, I think the cones deterred people from the area for a while anyway. Still think the telephone pole is in the way and some unfortunate person will eventually remove it, or maybe a storm will help us there. Just please don't replace it in the same, or worse spot! Hope they are going to put up traffic circle signs!!!
