  The police checked the signal and it appears the crosswalk signal does not stop the traffic on Eastern ave. The engineering dept will have to evaluate and recommend a solution. Message forwarded to engineering

  A vendor responded and replaced a blown load switch which had caused the walk and dont want LEDs to short out. They are now working as designed. This crossing was designed as a concurrent pedestrian cycle. This means that when traffic is stopped on Eastern ave, pedestrians can cross the street at Eastern ave but the cars traveling on Main street will still have a green light. I believe this was your major concern. In order to change to an "exclusive pedestrian crossing", in which all traffic is stopped in all directions, a complete upgrade of the signal boxes would be required and is not a simple change. As of 8/2/2022, the crossings are operating as designed.

  Hi, I noticed that you have recently been able to implement an "exclusive pedestrian crossing" cycle where all of the lights are red while the pedestrian walk signals are on. Thank you so much, this is definitely helpful and improves the safety of the intersection. I noticed that it does not always happen every cycle - do you know if a specific pedestrian button triggers this, or does it just happen every other cycle?

  The pedestrian phase is exclusive for crossing Main Street and concurrent for crossing Madison Avenue (pedestrians can cross Madison when Main Street signal is in green phase).
