Description
The storm gutter on the corner of Capuchino at Grove Ave does not properly drain to either storm drain. Late each winter/spring water pumped out of residential sump pumps collects here and is a breeding ground for insects and attracts yellowjackets. It will remain like this until spring runoff tapers and warming weather dries out the storm gutter. A complaint about this was previously made in 2020.

Hello,
Thank you for reporting this issue. The City of Burlingame launched SeeClickFix under the name “accessBurlingame” in June 2015 to equip residents and visitors with a free, quick, convenient, and public method for submitting service requests to City staff. Service requests are typically issues or concerns that can be fixed or completed in a reasonable amount of time. Examples of typical service requests include requests to clean up graffiti and dirty streets, repair potholes, or report broken signs and street lights.
Given the extent of repairs necessary to alleviate the issue, this request will be closed and will be considered for the possibility of future upgrades.
Thank you,
Street Supervisor

Good afternoon,
Thank you for reporting the issue and sharing your observations.
Our records indicate that there has been several projects in the neighborhood to provide better drainage. Due to the flat nature of the area, a more comprehensive study is needed to identify additional improvements. As noted, there are several private drains (from each of the properties) that continuous discharge into the curb and gutter. This location is included in our list of potential project sites.
Thank you.

Please contact the San Mateo County Mosquito and Vector Control District, which is located at 1351 Rollins Road, Burlingame, California. Their contact number is 650-344-8592. As identified by a Vector control specialist, mosquitos are readily able to breed in stagnant water that has been ‘standing’ for seven days. As noted in a post above, there are several private drains that continuously discharge into the street, which is identified as a consistent flow.
During the Spring and Summer months, street sweeping may be performed on a weekly basis in lieu of every other week based on staffing availability. We are currently working on updating the Burlingame.org website to reference this update. When parked vehicles prohibit the effectiveness of the street sweeper, we ask that residents sweep the leaves or debris towards the middle of the street; https://www.burlingame.org/departments/public_works/street_sweeping_program.php
