From Gallatin Rd turn on Edgemeade. Come to stop sign. Turn left and make a quick left onto Dinwiddie Drive. Pass the town houses/apartments. Pass Mamie St pass Globe(st signs on the right side of the road) Look to the left and you will see a fenced in yard. This area and farther is where it floods when it rains.

This area is in the flood plain of Dry Creek. During a large rain event, it will flood. There is nothing that the city can do to prevent flooding in the flood plain. Metro suggests that residents who live in the flood plain maintain flood insurance on their homes. Residents can reduce the risk of flooding by keeping branches and other debris out of the creek. This type debris can collect at bridges and form a dam, which will make the creek back up faster. If residents see debris collecting at a bridge, please contact Metro Water Services at 862-4600. If you see other large objects that could get washed down and jam at a bridge, please call us with the exact location and send us photographs, if possible. Keep in mind that access to creeks for debris removal is sometime very limited where homes are close together along a creek.

I don't understand the response from Metro because the STREET (Dinwiddie Drive) RETAINS water with NO WAY or SOURCE of drainage. This has NOTHING TO DO with the nearby creek nor being a flood plain. Please come to our subdivision on a RAINY day (not when it's sprinkling) to see for yourself. There needs to be PROPER DRAINAGE installed....that's the problem and a problem that CAN and SHOULD be fixed so we don't HAVE flooding. You see, some things CAN and SHOULD be Metro's responsibility. Branches or debris is not the responsibility of the owner when this is not the owner's property. It's Metro's property. We can't take out insurance on government grounds and would you want this debris in YOUR back yard? The water ways are not our responsibility. Metro use to come and pick up branches and debris found in their water ways and by ways. Flooding CAN be rectified if Metro would even clean out sewer drains...how is that our residents problem? It's wrong...just wrong!!
