It is unattractive and unfortunate but probably allowed. Maybe the black paint on the house could at least be aesthetically improved. Entire facility looks like a fortress. So unfriendly.

Take a look at Fairview & Oakland, Clairemont & Erie, Ponce Pl & Plainview, Ponce Pl. & Clairemont . All corner lots with tall fences along side yard.

Clarification on my comment above . I mentioned several properties to contradict original post saying there are no other tall fences along side yards in the neighborhood. I am not questioning the legality of any of these fences.

The fence on Plainview is only 6 feet and also not directly along the street. The Ponce Pl/Clairemont fence is also not as tall - not sure which you mean, but I dont think there’s one more than 5 ft. The other two are also 5ft and 6ft I believe.

I think one of the points the poster is trying to make is that this is directly along a sidewalk and very tall.

Also, as they said, I am not sure if this would even be considered a fence. I dont know how the code defines a fence vs a wall, but this seems more like a wall.

Fences (or walls) in a side and rear yard can be up to 8 feet high, provided it is not within 20 feet of an intersection. This fence doesn’t appear to me to be any taller than 7’ - I don’t think there are any issues with code.
