How will this problem be addressed if the address given is off by two or three blocks?? To me the spot sure looks like the point of the triangular block at the intersection of Peralta and Poplar near the end of 30th St. Across Peralta there's an encampment, complete with the newly seen wooden portable dwellings, backed up against the fence surrounding the vacant City Slicker/Lightner lot. The side street on the close side of the lot is Helen, the far side, Hannah, right?

This is really out of control. Every month there is a new tent or RV or "dogtown dog house" housing yet another prostitute and/or drug addict. This morning I was treated to one of them relieving himself (#2) on the sidewalk. What can the city do to help us with this issue?
Henry Gardner, the Interim City Administrator, can spend up to $100,000 without City Council vote. He is aware of this problem and is not dedicating resources to addressing it. I really think we need more experience/expertise and coordination with outside agencies on this matter of Homelessness. Henry Gardner is the person to make it happen.

I'm sorry but the city of Oakland public works department must be living in never never land. How can you say this is closed. If there is someone in charge you MUST come out to this and see for yourself what a Blight this is to the neighborhood
Hey Barry,
I'm actually in the process of organizing a neighborhood watch for Helen Street, would love to have you on board, it should give us some clout with getting the city to pay attention. I'm also very good friends with several reporters at both the Oakland Tribune and the Fox local affiliate. Shoot me an email at brentbucci@gmail.com and I'll send you the details.
Maybe you can take another photo, they say a picture is worth a thousand words. Have multiple people file complaints. Those mobile dog houses were in our neighborhood and now they've moved to yours. All the neighbors complained and we called Public Works, the police finally came. Apparently they have to be evicted, they have 24 hours notice to pack up and leave, then the city comes in and hauls the garbage.
