After contacting the Middletown and Holmdel Police to inquire as to how many accidents have occurred at this intersection since this new design, I was directed to contact the County, since this intersection is their jurisdiction. I have personally witnessed 2 accidents and one near miss accident at this same intersection in the last 18 months. My husband witnessed an additional accident. It was frightening to witness broad side impacts which could have easily been head on collisions at the intersection. Aside from the accidents we witnessed, we have seen police on site investigating accidents. I also see debris from time to time indicating that an accident has taken place. As directed by the County, I completed and mailed an Inquiry Request Form in July 2009 complete with a diagram. I have yet to receive any response, although I am not sure that would be the procedure. The accidents I witnessed took place as a result of not being able to judge the oncoming traffic when attempting to turn left from Laurel/Van Shoick onto Dwight Road. I suggested a "Left Turn on Green Arrow Only" traffic signal and sign (just like the one a few hundred yards ahead at the Parkway entrance. ) I would still like to know how many accidents have occurred at this intersection since the new design, and how many it will take along with what injury/loss it will take for this situation is rectified.

This redesigned intersection should never have been done. There are more accidents and near misses than before. The curve on Red Hill Rd. is worse. Who ever designed this intersection should be ashamed and have their engineering degree put in a shredder. Not to mention the eminent domain abuse committed by confiscating the private property of Potter and DeFelice below market value.

I couldn't agree more with the comments on this intersection. On multiple occasions driving at night from Holdmel to my home in Middletown I found it difficult to navigate to Dwight, hesitating to make sure I was really in the proper lane. Can you imagine for those who are not familiar with the area.
After dark in rain and fog it is especially dangerous.

This intersection was redesigned to allow the traffic from AT&T flow better . This had nothing to do about the bad curves on Red Hill rd

This redesign was, indeed, "to allow traffic from AT&T to flow better". However apparently no changes were made after the volume of traffic was drastically reduced due to the down-sizing/closings of Lucent and AT&T.
I defy the person responsible for this fiasco to send one of his family members on a trip from the Holmdel Town Center to Red Hill Road on a dark, wintery evening....or better yet, on a dark, rainy, wintery evening!

I am closing this issue because it is obvious that the bureauracy involved has no intention of remedying this situation. They have made a huge blunder and rather than remedy it and make it a safe area they are going to ignore it to justify their bad decision.
