There is a woman who lives here & owns a grey pit bull. She walks the dog off leash all the time and NEVER EVER picks up the dogs poop!

hey there, thanks for replying. I appreciate that you might not have consciously intended to resonate with an existing prejudice, but, as I'm sure you understand, just like with prejudices against humans, certain comments have impact beyond the speaker's intention when they line up with a broader social pattern of harm.
In the case of pit bulls (not actually a breed in the genetic sense, just a term we colloquially use for a group of appearance characteristics), this pattern of social harm means these dogs are the most frequently abused (particularly in illegal dog fighting and breeding), that our culture is rife with inaccuracies (they do not have locking jaws, nor are they more aggressive by nature than other dogs), that there are laws all over our country preventing them from living/existing in homes or towns (people get rejected from apartments and homes as buyers and tenants and their dogs get taken away and klled), that they are the number one kind of dog on the list to be klled in the shelter when there's no room, and that overall a ton of humans and dogs suffer b/c of these prejudices.
If you'd like to learn more about the realities of breed specific legislation, there's a great documentary available for free on youtube, called Beyond The Myth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acB7zYeBT8c
Thanks for reading.
