Description

Almost every day, I drive Ashford Dunwoody NB and take a left onto Hammond (WB). I've noticed a couple of problems. Today, I saw a van actually make the left turn onto the eastbound lane of Hammond. They were on the wrong side of the road, but luckily traffic was light so I think it ended up ok. But also, there is only one semi-useful 'guiding dashed' line in the intersection to facilitate this turn, but it is not properly arced to facilitate fast traffic flow. It is on the right side of the cars in the left turn lane (and on the left side of the cars in the 2nd left turn lane, the lane on the right. It would help if there was a guiding dashed line on the *left* side of the left turn lane, and it would help further if both were painted to properly arc cars into the turn. Right now, quite a few drivers drive on the 'red arrow', cutting a straight line through the intersection and then holding up traffic behind them because they do not understand that cars cannot quickly cut sharp angled turns around a raised median. The green lines are a better approximation of the path that cars should follow to enable smooth transition onto Hammond westbound.
