Description
was advised to reach out to you for issues with a drainage swale along the eastside of the 5000 block of Bonnie Branch Rd. from Dept of Environmental Services. The location pictured is during a heavy rain when outflow from the BGE facility dry pond fills. This location across from the intersection with Good Memory Ln fills with debris and now has enough sediment to overtop Bonnie Branch Rd fairly regularly. This ends up dumping sediment in storm water managment facilities across the street and causes particularly unsafe flow across the road where hydroplaning is far more likley.
In the short term a debris and sediment removal is warranted along the swale to limit the amount of times overtopping might occur. In the long run an engineering fix such as a culvert under Bonnie Branch Rd to meet Bonnie Branch Creek may be called for. I would have normally just put this in the Tell HoCo app but I think this whole space deserves the eyes of an engineer slightly after a rain. A lot of rain runoff from up the hill along Bonnie Branch Rd also deposits in this area because of the lack of connectivity of swales in the area.
