Description
I asked for assistance around 1 pm today and it appears that my request has been given to Boston 311. I am afraid that I do not know who they are. I thought I was requesting snow shoveling assistance from the Snowcrew as I have many times in the past. Did I do something wrong? Do I need to make another request? I am afraid I am just rather confused at this point. Can anyone explain it to me?

Hello Marilyn,
I'll try to explain. This new version of Snowcrew.org that you are using is powered by SeeClickFix.com. The city of Boston, Boston311 also uses SeeClickFix to record request from residents to repair city property like lights, sidewalks, and other city property that requires maintenance.
For snowcrew.org, requests that are submitted go to neighbors, not the city, but sometimes it seems that it can be a little confusing as you have just experienced. We are working to make this more clear. For now, sit tight and hopeful a neighbor will be able to dig you out.

Hi Joseph,
First I have to say it is very, very nice to "speak" to you again. Thank you for your explanation. Just now I clicked on your above link for Snowcrew.org and when I tried to login it repeated said Error. So I guess that means I just continue to use Seeclickfix. I hope you are well.
Re today - sometimes the volunteer comes in the evening because they are working during the day. What is your feeling re today? Do you think there is any chance of someone coming during the day today? I actually don't know if people are at work today. I no longer have cable for the TV. My husband was the one who used TV the most and it was quite expensive.I stopped it after he died. But it does leave me rather out of touch.
Last year a spoke to you re another unrelated issue and I would like to mention it again. Is there a way of contacting you other than this website?
Thanks, Marilyn

Marilyn,
The chances of getting help are greater in the evening when people are done with work.
There is not a set volunteer who helps, rather a pool of people who help when they can. There is not a way to contact volunteers via snowcrew. Continue using SeeClickFix to communicate.

Hi Joseph,
In an effort to not appear ignorant I wanted to quickly comment on your explanation that the Snowcrew is "not a set volunteer who helps, rather a pool of people who help when they can." I know this because I have very gratefully been receiving assistance from this organization since the winter of 2010-11. Each time it is a different volunteer. When I said "the volunteer" I meant to convey that it is only one volunteer at a time who comes to offer assistance, not a group. And I know that the volunteers are working people who most often can only come after they are finished with work for the day. And I also know you cannot contact anyone directly as they are a pool. I just wanted to correct the mistaken impression I made when I used the term "the volunteer."
No one came last night. I know there is no way of knowing if anyone will come tonight either. I just wanted to make sure that everyone knew that my case was still open. Thanks, Marilyn
