Descrição
Vehicles turning right from northbound East Lake Sammamish Pkwy (ELSP) NE cross the fog line and use the shoulder (intended for parking) as a turn lane. This subsequently renders a line of site issue for vehicles turning from 187th Ave NE southbound onto ELSP. A motorcycle was nearly struck this morning when a box truck crossed the fog line using the shoulder as a right turn lane from ELSP to 187th and I've seen this scenario over and over. While 187th is Redmond, the area in question that could use some stripping or signage (or both) is in Sammamish. By doing so, it would also facilitate turning movements at this intersection and likely prevent another accident from occurring (I saw an accident at this very intersection on Friday 9/15/23 around 4:30pm) where both Sammamish PD and Redmond PD responded to the accident.

Thank you for your patience. With this intersection at 187th being in the city of Redmond, the city of Sammamish has coordinated with Redmond on possible intersection improvements and has brought these concerns to their engineering team. A decision to implement a signal here or install major upgrades would be decided by the city of Redmond. On the Sammamish side, the wide shoulder will always invite drivers to use it as a travel lane, but we will continue to look into if signage or delineators can help with this issue.
